classrooms, reimagined.
For Teachers, By Teachers.
Join a growing community of educators bringing fresh energy, new strategies, and genuine collaboration into their classrooms -- through collaborative workshops built by teachers who love this work as much as you do.
Welcome to the jhumki basu foundation
Professional development you will look forward to.
JBF was built by teachers who believe that when educators are supported, inspired, and connected to one another, extraordinary things happen in classrooms.
Since 2009, we have created teacher-led professional development experiences centered on collaboration, student voice, and practical classroom strategies. Our current workshops also help educators use AI as a thought partner for planning, problem-solving, and designing meaningful learning experiences.
You bring the passion. We bring the community, the frameworks, and the space to grow.
Teachers who come through the JBF don't just grow their own classrooms. They become the kind of educators other teachers turn to. Leaders, mentors, and published voices in national education conversations.

JBF connects you with a community of teachers who are curious, committed, and energized by what education can become.

- Jordan Franklin: Poet, Educator & Student of Jhumki Basu
Professor Jhumki Basu was a graduate of Stanford University and Columbia University, as well as an educator and researcher who believed that every student, regardless of background, ZIP code, or subject, deserves a classroom where their voice matters and their potential is limitless.
She believed this two decades before the rest of the world caught up. In 2009, her parents, Dipak and Radha, founded JBF to carry that vision forward.
our story
Jhumki saw it coming.
We're carrying it forward.
“At the end of the day, Ms. Jhumki was a nova—one of those huge ones that ripped the cosmos apart with the colors of a blind man’s dream, and she was one of those lucky few that became a gorgeous nebula.
We are the stars she left behind.”

What our Teachers are saying

Trusted by Educators Worldwide
Since 2009, JBF has partneredhas partnered with school districts, universities, and organizations across the US and in more than a dozen countries worldwide.
From the New York City Department of Education to the Jane Goodall Institute, from Boston Public Schools to Ministries of Education across India, Pakistan, Spain, and the United Kingdom -- the reach of this work speaks for itself.
In summer 2026, JBF sponsored a Stanford University educator expedition to the Galápagos Islands, bringing together 24 teachers and renowned Darwinian expert Bill Durham, Professor Emeritus at Stanford University.
The experience brought educators together to explore, collaborate, and design new ways to carry what they learned back into their classrooms. The community they built continues through shared curriculum work and ongoing connection.
Join a community of educators growing, sharing, and doing some of the most meaningful work in teaching today.
Through our workshops, you will find real connection, and professional development that energizes you.
Your best classroom is still ahead of you.
